Venkatraman who runs a restaurant near the Erode General Hospital in Tamil Nadu serves food to the poor and needy for just 1 rupee. An incident where a poor lady couldn’t buy dosas because they were expensive, got Venkatraman thinking about how he could help people in such situation and came up with this selfless act of providing food to such people at Re 1 which usually costs about Rs. 45 to Rs 55. He says although he faces financial issues, he can’t stop this noble cause. There are other people who also contribute to his cause.
