SHUBHENDU SHARMA
An industrial engineer, he left his high paying job at Toyota to plant trees for the rest of his life. His company ‘Afforestt’ converts any land of minimum 1000 square feet size into a forest. His forests are not only self-sustainable but are also maintenance-free after the first three years. He uses Miyawaki’s technique which has helped regenerate forests across the world and Sharma replicated this model in India. He created a team of fewer than 10 members in Bangalore and received his first order from a German furniture maker to plant about 10,000 trees. Since then, Afforestt has served around 50 clients and planted over 55,000 trees.
