RIGHT TO EDUCATE YOUR CHILD

If there is a good school near your house, besides the merit of your case, you are entitled to claim a seat within the 25% reserved category, also, under the landmark RTE Act. Supreme Court has upheld its constitutional validity.

I am not sure if this was a completely fair or a populist provision, a lot of economically backward children are going to benefit from this.

From an egalitarian point of view this should augur well for a more equitable and fair social order with a greater level playing field. The rich and/or the meritorious students will get to interact with the poor and/or the less bright children.
