Rehana Adeeb, Muzaffarnagar
From being a victim of rape, child marriage, and domestic violence, to be a fighter of the same, Rehana Adeeb is a strong woman. She says it was too late when she realized that all that which she was going through, is not “normal”. After being associated with Disha, an NGO, she realized that she was a victim and that she too had a voice. In 2005, Rehana, started her own NGO called Astitva in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh which fights for women’s right, helps file FIRs whenever a case required so. She has received many threats and opposition for the work that she does, but that doesn’t stop her from doing what is right. For her outstanding work, she was even invited as a chief guest for an international conference in Beijing.
