Jockin Arputham
From getting arrested more than 60 times to being nominated for Nobel Peace Prize(2014)this is an extraordinary story of a slum dweller named Jockin Arputham. He fights for the dignity of the weakest of the poorest section and says that sanitation and shelter are for one and all. It was with the efforts led by him that Janpat colony(a slum in Mumbai) was cleared of garbage first time in 22 years. He is the founder of National Slum Dwellers Federation which works in around 70 cities of India. He is popularly known as the “Toilet Man” worldwide. Over the years, he has built 300,000 houses in India and 100,00 abroad.
