India were the underdogs before going to 1983 World Cup and against all odds they did something unthinkable. India defeated mighty West Indies to win their maiden World Cup and skipper Kapil Dev lifted the trophy. The Indian cricket team was going through a tough phase. They were knocked out of the 2007 World Cup in the first rounds after defeats to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. But going in the first T20 World Cup – selectors decided to make MS Dhoni the skipper and he led India to a historic title. Indian cricket team led by MS Dhoni defeated rivals Pakistan to lift the inaugural World T20 title in 2007. India made history, which created fear into every other competitor.
