Let the two countries compete in offering fairer treatment to their respective minorities.

Naseeruddin Shah is justified in expressing his apprehensions and he is not alone. A lot of secular Hindus think so too.

However, let me add that if Muslims of India have a choice today between Pakistan and India, most – including Naseeruddin and I – will unhesitatingly opt for India. And that is because India’s majority is still by and large secular. Wish that were so with Pakistan.
