Gender discrimination prevalent at the very place which is supposed to be against discrimination.
Ratio of female to male judges in the high court is 1:8.7 in India i.e. 1 female Supreme Court judge against 25 male judges. The position of senior designated counsels given by the Supreme Court has been held only by 12 women so far, that too in a country where the right to practice law by women had been granted in 1922. The Bar council of India has never had any woman chairperson or vice person till date. There have been instances when women lawyers had to deal with a retired Delhi Court judge who would pass comments on their dressing.
