CONWOMAN CONNING INDIA
Brought up on myths and folklore and nurtured on soap operas we seem to never tire of scandals and sensationalism.
No wonder almost all of our national television channels have chosen to devote almost whole of their prime time and much of their day’s coverage for three full days on a conwoman-cum-murder accused, at the cost of every other news, both national and international.
Isn’t anything worthwhile happening in this 3.3 million Sq Kms country of 1.25 billion people professing eight major religions and speaking 1652 languages?
Come on, is Indrani some cabinet minister or other important functionary of the state or one of its major religious institutions? Does she deserve so much coverage?
Let us return to News, worth listening to. Let us value our time – while we yet have some of it.
