Discrimination faced by a Dalit student compelled him to take his own life.
Rohith Vermula and 4 other students of Hyderabad Central University were asked to vacate their room at the University hostel and the notice stated that their presence in public places, hostel premises and in administration building will be considered as criminal acts. In a video shared by his friends 9 months after his suicide, he mentions the atrocities him and his friends had to face just because they were “Dalits”.
